This vehicle is the largest in the Landrover product line. It's proven capability as an expedition vehicle and the storage space make this car perfect for our needs. The 130 Crew Cab is a lengthened 110, so the cargo area is a quite large box. The fuel consumption, when fully loaden and driving under 100 km/h on varying terrain, is not more than 10 L per 100 km's.

Suspension

The suspension is upgraded to OLD MAN EMU springs, shocks and steering damper

· Roofrack: Patriot Roofracks

A very strong full length roofrack made of dural aluminium.  Swedish agent is OPP.

· Tent : Primus Bifrost H6

This tent consists of three areas, two for sleeping and one common. It is designed to accomodate six persons which means that there is plenty of space for our family. This is of great value since we will spend many, many nights in it. The common section which separates the two rooms is high enough for Milan to stand in, that is more than 190 cm. It is also very quick to set up, actually much faster than the rooftent. We can assure that it doesn't take us more than 10 minutes. Again, when travelling with kids this is important since they get bored rather quick. We have also found that, compared to the rooftent, this tent is much more stable in strong winds.

· Rooftent: Howling Moon Tourer 2.4

This is the, to our knowledge, largest rooftent on the market. The floor which has a wooden core is 2.4x2.4m when the tent is open. The mattresses are attached to the floor but can be removed for cleaning. One can also mount an aditional tent under the overhang (wich extends 1m outside the floor). The advantage with a rooftent is that one is more secure from animals and there is a degree of comfort due to the mattresses. The shortcoming is that one is forced to stay with the car, it weights a lot (90 kg) and it is time consuming to setup compared to the Primus tent.

· Cooking and camping : Primus

The omni fuel system operates on all the different fuels except ethanol. We also have a micron stove wich we found to be the ultimate milk heater for the kids. Lanterns, lamps, cuttlery, pots... you name it, they got it and so do we =)

· Cargo Box : home made

The box has doors from 3 sides.

·  Fridge: Waeco CF-50

This compressor fridge has a capacity of 50L and consumes very little energy due to the modern compressor technique used. We have tried it in hot climate and we are very satisfied with the performance. It can be operated as either a fridge or a freezer. Can there be anything more satisfying than having cold beer in the desert ?? =)

·  Aircondition : Waeco

This aftermarket fittment is supposed to be superior to the original. The brand is Diavia and it is distributed by Waeco.

·  Extra lights : Light FORCE

We have mounted six Lightforce E240 Blitz light which are very bright. These lights are particularly good since they are almost unbreakable.

· Car Security : Waeco Magic safe

A sofisticated alarmsystem which incorporates wireless motion sensors.

· Power inverter : Waeco

A 150 Watt inverter is enough to charge the laptop and other batteries

· Vaccuum cleaner : Waeco

·  Diesel powered heater: Webasto Air Top 3500

These heaters are a necessity in cold climates. They are able to keep a "comfy" temperature in the tent and the cabin even when it is very cold outside. Tried without problem in minus 10 degrees celsius.

·  Raised Air Intake: Mantec

Fitted to keep the sand, dust and water out of the system.

·  Tires: BF Goodrich All-terrain 235 85 r16

This tyre was chosen for it's proved all-round performance.

· Batteries: Optima yellow top

Three of these connected to each other will add up to a capacity of 165 Ah. We have discovered that this is enough to run the fridge for three "hot" days (!) and still have enough power to start the engine. The Optima batteries are compact, robust, and cope well with cold climates.

Storage of our Stuff

To store our clothes and personal belongings we have used a collection of Peli cases. These are dust, water and animal proof. Our medical kit is also a specifically designed Peli case in orange. All of our electronic equipment is stored in these cases so they are protected well in foam, even the iPod. Our food is also stored in one of these boxes which will keep the bugs out.

When we are traveling without the cars we have the 65l Fjall Raven Rucksack along with the Kids ruck sack. The children have their own Primus ruck sacks.

Navigation and Communication

As well as paper maps for all regions we travel our navigation is aided by two devices. The first being the Magellan Crossover GPS. This is the first GPS that can be used for both road, water, and walking. Together with the SD card maps the Crossover has everything we need for our adventures, all the road maps of Europe, the Topographic maps for hiking and geocaching, and the capability for Bluechart navigation. The device is small, has a clear screen, light and easily put in your pocket with an 8 hour battery life. It even has an MP3 player and photo storage for the dull moments on the trail.

The second device is the Bluetex Tracking GPS device by FYM. This device will update our website on our trip to Australia almost in real time. It uses GPRS to upload the data from our movements. When not in coverage it stores the data until signal strength returns. A further bonus of it having Bluetooth built in gives us the additional GPS for using maps on the computer. It will keep the family with peace of mind knowing exactly where we are.

For communications we have both a Thuraya satellite phone, which has both GPS and GSM capabilities, and a standard GSM phone. These devices will be used not only for making calls and keeping in touch but also to upload and update our website while we are on the move. Connected up to a laptop with an external 300GB hard drive.

Between the cars we have a Zodiac Radio with two handheld devices. This will be our main means of commuication for pit stops along the way.

In-Car Entertainment

Our onboard Entertainment is VDO Dayton system with a CD, Radio, MP3; DVD stereo with two flat screens built in the back. The system alows the fron seat passengers to listen to music while the rear passengers can quietly watch a DVD on wireless IR headphones.

The children have a toy box between them on our trips so they can reach and change their entertainment choice.

·Water purification : General Ecology

The Nature-Pure purifier is on the way with the postman. This will be connected to a 77 Liter plastic water tank with a large lid. A 20L jerry can will also be used.

·Sand ladders

Will also be used as security by covering the side windows when leaving the car unattended.

·  Shower

·  Fuel Tank

An additional 80L fuel tank is fitted permanently and additional 40L will be carried in jerry cans.

·HI-LIFT jack

·Medical kitt stored in Peli cases

Honda EX 1KW Generator

Toolbox

The toolbox is mounted on roler bearings and slides in under the rear seat. To do so a hach was made on the side panel
